Sound is lagging when using OBS virtual camera

Hi,

I am using OBS professionally for my classes (instructor-led on-line training via Zoom). It helps me a lot since I can have different scenes and backgrounds on my green screen etc. A perfect tool.

I suffer from severe lag on the sound. After an hour or so, the sound is delayed, and the voice is out of sync. After a restart of OBS, everything is ok again - for a while.

My setup is OBS Studio -> Zoom via OBS Virtual Camera (the built-in). Sound from the mic into OBS and output through the Monitoring Device output to a virtual cable (https://vb-audio.com/Cable/) using CABLE Input. The output end of the virtual cable is then selected as the microphone in Zoom. The current OBS version is 26.1.1, but I have had this problem since I started with OBS.

I use a high-end PC (32 Gb memory, Intel Core I9, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, Windows 10 Pro) and a 100 MB internet fixed connection. The default mic is a Blue Yeti USB mic. The cameras are several, but I do not think they are part of the problem. So I doubt the problem is related to equipment, but of course, it could be.

I use a couple of filters for the microphone; Noice Gate, Noice Suppression, Compressor, Expander, Equaliser, and Gain. I have tried to disable the filters but believe the problem stays if I do. This is a bit hard to test since it takes some time to see the problem and I need a counterpart in order to test.

I have used this setup for more than one year now and always had the same problem. I started with the plugin for the virtual camera but now using the native. The same problem always. I have tried a lot of different "solutions" with no luck.

Any clues, suggestions, or information that is needed?
