I primarily stream using PC games only, however, I have the NES Classic and want to start streaming from the console to mix it up.
----CURRENT SETUP----
OS: Windows 10 Pro v. 1903
OBS Studio: v.23.2.1
Voicemeeter Potatoe: v. 3.0.0.7
Elgato HD60s (external) capture card
----VIDEO CAPTURE/SOUND SETUP----
--Windows--
Sound Playback = Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO) Set to default device
Recording = Voicemeeter Aux Output (VB-Audio Voicemeeter AUX VIOA) Set to default device
- App Voume and device preferences
- Game = Cable-A Output (VB-Audio Cable A)
- Browser of choice (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) - Cable-B Output (VB-Audio Cable B)
- Stream Deck - Cable-B Output (VB-Audio Cable B)
--Voicemeeter--
- Physical Inputs -
Mic = Microphone (USB Audio CODEC) - this is a mixer via usb - mic is XLR into my mixer
Other Voices = Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) - this is Discord/Skype or whatever I use to for voice chat
Game Sounds = Cable-A Output (VB-Audio Cable A) - this captures game sound
Music/Videos = Cable-B Output (VB-Audio Cable B) - this captures any music/video sounds i.e. spotify, youtube, other
- Output -
A1 - Headphones (SteelSeries Arctis Pro Game)
- Virtual Inputs -
Voicemeeter VAIO - A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS)
Voicemeeter AUX - A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS)
VAIO 3 - A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS) <--- this is irrelevant as there is not enough virtual cables (can be muted)
-Physical Inputs settings-
Mic = B2 (output to OBS)
Other Voices = A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS) If you do not want OBS to hear discord voices then turn off B2
Game Sounds = A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS)
Music/Video = A1 (headphones) B1 (output to OBS)
--OBS--
Settings > Audio = Disable all inside here. I have set up scenes inside OBS to pull in the audio I want for that scene to have more control over volume of each input both from OBS and Voicemeeter
- OBS Scenes Audio -
Created each scene then added a source for that audio component to use as desired
SCENE = MIC > Sources = mic > Audio Input Device > Voicemeeter Aux Output (VB-Audio Voicemeeter AUX VAIO)
SCENE = Other Voices > Sources = other voices > Audio Output Device > Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)
SCENE = Game Sound > Sources = game sound > Audio Output Device > Cable-A Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable A)
SCENE = Music/Video > Sources = music/video > Audio Output Device > Cable-B Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable B)
Then you add the audio source to whatever scene you want to have your stream to hear for example on my "starting soon scene" I have just my music/video source being used because I do not want my mic, other sounds, or game sounds to be heard while I am in starting stream mode.
In my stream (SCENE) I have all the audio sources added so I can play music, mic, game sounds. It is just a preference thing that you want your viewers to hear.
ALL OF THIS WORKS AS IT IS SUPPOSE TO
-------------------------------------------------
This is where I cannot seem to get the audio to work correctly
- Console (NES Classic) -
Monitor (Using Samsung 32" Smart TV) HDMI Input Cable from the Elgato HD60s Capture Card output
NES Classic output to Elgato HD60s Capture Card input HDMI
--OBS--
SCENE = NES > source = nes > video capture device > Game Capture HD60 S (Video) (#01)
* Note on this, the only way I could make this work and show the actual game footage, was to shutdown OBS, then start the console then relaunch OBS. I was getting a strange pix-elated green screen if I had OBS open while or after console was powered on.
- I then had a audio called nes in the mixer section of OBS - http://prntscr.com/o7ie1w <-- screenshot
- I clicked on the cog Icon and a window popped up cog - http://prntscr.com/o7iejr - popup window http://prntscr.com/o7ieug > click on configure video another window pops up - http://prntscr.com/o7if56 I then selected Audio Input 1/HDMI Audio (radio control button) hit "OK"
- I then have sound coming through my monitor
This is what I cannot figure out
- How can I route this to my headphones also.
- It goes to my OBS but no idea how to get it to my headphones also. It comes though the monitor but not headphones.
