Sony Handycam MiniDV tapes to PC

Hi all,

If this is the wrong place to post this type of help request, then please accept my apologies. I've only recently got familiar with OBS.

I have a very old camcorder. It's the Sony Handycam DCR-TRV16e. My aim is to use OBS to record the MiniDV tapes from the camcorder on to my Windows PC. I've done research of this, watched countless videos but still can't figure it out all out. First things first, the equipment I have:
- USB Video Capture Card. Specifically this one: https://amzn.eu/d/0gda380X
- 3.5mm to AV cable. Something like this: https://amzn.eu/d/07oBp5FS

The idea is to use the 'Audio/Video Out' slot from my camcorder to display the audio and video on OBS. I'm sure the proper method is to use a 'Firewire' but I think that's too much of a hassle.

As mentioned, I've watched many videos and so far all I've managed to do is get the sound to connect. But I've not once manage to get the video to feed through. The issue is, I'm not sure if there is a setting on the actual camcorder I need to change or if it's purely settings on my laptop/OBS. I can connect the camcorder to my TV using the 3.5mm to AV cable with no issues and both sound and video work.

So, if anyone has any ideas/solutions using the cables I've purchased, I'd really appreciate it.

I downloaded .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 on this laptop and I somehow managed to get some picture. But the picture is super dark and you can't really make anything out. Also, the picture only works when you connect the Red colour from the AV cable to yellow one from the capture card.

So I have a really bad picture now but only when you connect red to yellow!

All this 3.5mm cables are different. The worst thing is that even ground pin can be connected to the wrong ring on 3.5mm jack. You need original cable (supplied with the camera). Product page (cable) mentions special CTIA to OMTP adapter for 3.5mm jack, so if the one was shipped with the cable - you may try it (please, connect only one at a time colored jack - not all three - until you get stable picture, only then try other two to get sound).

Log file has few errors, but I think it were caused by your attempts to click every option in the Video Capture Device properties (the "crossbar" selection, it is very unlikely that your capture device has more than one input/output, thus interface wasn't implemented). OBS should work OK.
