Today I went to record knowing that it would record to FLV and I was fine with this. I had tested it previously and knew that I could record to other formats manually and had tested the MP4 it produced and it looked fine. Today I was just going to let it do its thing in FLV though. Unfortunately even though I have almost the entire Adobe suite I was unable to find a program that would open the FLV. I looked around the forums and found that if I went to "file" there was a neat little option to convert it easily to MP4. "Awesome" I thought, "I can get this sorted no problem".
I went to convert it and OBS alerted me that "it converted but it may be incomplete or corrupted". And indeed it was. I could not find a single program on my entire computer capable of opening either file (FLV or MP4). I did finally find a file converter online and was able to save the recording session but its rather unsettling that such a common filetype isnt quite working with so many programs.
Another bug I found (that I am always able to reproduce) is that when I fullscreen OBS and change some settings and then exit OBS (while still fullscreen) it crashes and I have to force quit the application, losing all the settings I changed recently.
On another note I recently I managed to get Syphon working and its almost like I have a whole new program. I could barely run games on low settings while streaming/recording on very low quality and now I have increased my stream bitrate 2x, the stream quality and the game quality and I am running smoother than previously. All of this with the same machine, internet and programs running in the background. "Window capture" on mac is apparently very CPU intensive but Syphon is freaking amazing.
