Question / Help Some games drop OBS's fps (NDI plugin)

Some games, but not all, drop my OBS to under 20fps while other games can stream perfectly at 720p 60fps. I am using NDI plugin, therefore i'm not actually streaming with the computer I am playing the game on. (But OBS running on the computer with the game drops to 20 or less fps.)

Just to clarify, my OBS states my cpu is below 10%, but upon capturing my game, it drops from my preset 60 fps to 20 fps.

Why are some games dropping my OBS, eventhough I am only using the preview tool of the OBS program? Preview meaning just placing/capturing the game onto OBS, no streaming, just the picture you see on OBS.

OBS uses GPU resources to render frames from capture sources. It does this even if you are not streaming or recording at the time. Since there is no ability in Windows to set GPU priority the way you set CPU priority, if you are near 100% utilization or above, problems will be created. In most cases this means that OBS experiences rendering lag when the game you're playing is saturating the CPU. I suppose it's also possible that OBS rendering frames could reduce the in-game framerate.
