I know there are many threads about this posted as of late. I looked around and tried a few things that seemed would apply to me, but they didn't work. Switching to OpenGL worked for some games, though. The fps seems sluggish so I'd rather stick to DX (I think).
System: Windows 10 64bit (latest updates), AMD xfx r9 390 (16.3), i5 6600k, z170 PG.
I've tried running the OBS 64bit (with/without admin privs), enable/disable anti-cheat hooks, among others. None of'em worked.
- One time I tried adding 2 game captures inputs for the same game, and then adjusting the priority (order in the list) and deleting one of them (the old one, I think), and that fixed it. But I couldn't reproduce this fix.
- 2 for 2 Having OBS launch directly from the installer it'd work every time. So I can basically uninstall/reinstall OBS every for each stream/capture session. Not very efficient.
I think I may have found a different bandaid fix that may work for some people (those who had it running perfect after install but black thereafter).
(Note that I deleted all user preferences from previous OBS installs before installing OBS-Studio-0.13.2-Installer with admin privs.)
Potential Black screen fix:
- Before shutting down OBS, make sure that you double LMB click the "Game Capture" source, and in the "Window" drop down set it to the top, blank slot. Then click OK.
- Shut down OBS.
- After you relaunch, try to set the window to the game.
I had star citizen running when I noticed it was black, and the Window set to star citizen from a previous session before doing these 3 steps and it fixed my prob instantly.
Edit: This only worked thrice. I don't recommend it anymore. Running 64bit in admin mode, seems good so far for me.
