Question / Help [Solved] Failed to initialize video (on previously working setup)

Hi there,

I'm having an issue with OBS that started just an hour ago, after having recorded normally before. Right now, I'm trying to just start OBS, for some reason it doesn't want to and says it failed to initialize the GPU.

Unfortunately, everything is up to date:
  • OBS 20.0.1
  • Graphics drivers 385.41
  • Windows 10 (x64) build 15063
I checked in dxdiag, the gpu is enabled, so I am at a loss as to what I can now do to try and have it even just start. The only thing that has changed since the last time I started OBS is an update through Steam of GTA 5 (over which I have no control and I don't know if it was anything more that a content update).

Is there something I am overlooking? Is it a new issue? Does anyone have a clue what I could try to solve that issue?

I'd be grateful for any help on that matter.

Incredible laser focus, and thank you for the quick answer, it solved my problem

In case someone else runs into this issue: I have edited the culprit profile's "baseCX" to the proper value, in "...AppData\Roaming\obs-studio\basic\profiles\[culprit profile]\basic.ini"

I think, OBS Studio needs safe options (at least for Profile and for Scene Collection) to run the studio with the default settings. Maybe kind of "safemode" key? What developers think of it?

The perfect log by the way (counter of memory leaks reached 220).

If your problem is the same, then so is the solution. Check that your resolution settings are correct.

If that doesn't fix it, it isn't the same problem-- make a new thread and post a log, please.
