Software Recording

Hi

I am using Cubase Pro 10 to produce music, and use a scarlett interface for audio. I want to record the audio to do tutorials, however it wont record audio from the software even if the device is selected as scarlett interface. Playing audio files on the desktop lets say will pick it up and the metre will move to show this

any ideas ?
