As an open source developer myself, I'm generally of the opinion that forks should be avoided. The reasons why this is so, are well documented.
I have concerns about SLOBS. Because they make it easy for a specific but popular use-case (windows game streamers who want to make money/be popular on twitch), I'm seeing its use become very common. However, I feel that its windows-only support and it's failure to contribute features to the main project are detrimental to OBS.
Accordingly, I feel like I should be discouraging its adoption, but I do wonder if perhaps there is some reason why the fork may have been considered preferable.
Was this fork an amicable thing between the OBS and streamlabs devs, or is it more unpleasant?
I'd like to know where I should stand on this, and my opinion on the matter will largely be determined by how the original OBS devs feel about it.
Enlighten me, if you would be so kind.
