I have a dual PC set up, one for streaming, one for gaming. I have a Magewell 4K capture card in my streaming PC so I can capture 1440P which by default is set to 60fps (But I will be downscaling it on OBS). What I have done is have OBS run on both PCs and use the one on the gaming PC as a monitor capture, as my gaming monitor is an Asus PG279Q IPS which can go up to 156Hz (but I tend to play on 120 to 144 Hz).
My OBS set up on my streaming PC is fine, I have no issues with that. Now with the main gaming display I have extended my display to the capture card so I have my gaming display as the primary and the capture card display as the extended secondary (I have 2 GTX 980s for graphics cards, I've tried this with SLI on and off).
On OBS on my gaming display I've added and enabled the monitor capture so I can capture everything going on, on my gaming display. I've also reduced the refresh rate down to 60fps in OBS. I then move the OBS from my main monitor on my gaming PC to my capture card display (where the streaming PC OBS is).
Everything up to this point is fine, it's showing my my desktop from my gaming PC on OBS, which is a window in the OBS on my streaming PC. I then enable OBS' preview mode to get a full screen according to plan. Let me restate again everything is working great up to this point.
Now the real headache starts when I load up a game, the OBS preview mode turns into a slide show and when I say slide show, I'm talking 1 frame a second maybe even less. I've tried this with multiple games from graphically intensive games to pixel art indie ones and it does exactly the same (non) performance. However, in some games I can switch to windowed mode or borderless windowed mode and when I do, it works perfectly, I can see a decent monitor capture, no stuttering etc. I then revert back to full screen mode in the game and back to the slideshow we go. I'd also like to point out this happens with OBS Standard AND OBS Multiplatform.
Operating systems I'm using are Windows 10 on my gaming PC and Windows 7 on my streaming PC. As I understand I've heard there are problems with OBS on Windows 10 from a few people, is this true, if so is this going to be fixed soon as to me this is a bit of a show stopper as I am wanting to start streaming soon but I may have to look at alternatives (like X-Split).
