The issue: Skype using NDI - sound crackles/cracks/breaks from time to time, especially when I switch apps.
(by this link you can hear it (I cut part of the stream, first 15 seconds is enough to get the issue); on the streaming, it like many small pauses, but when I manage to stream with OBS I hear crackles/cracks).
I stream Skype using NDI with the following configuration: Local skype +2 remote quests.
I arrange sources following:
NDI Source 1: Skype source of remote guest 1, bandwidth highest, rest NDI settings - default. Audio mixer - channel muted
NDI Source 2: Skype source "Active speaker", bandwidth Audio only, rest NDI settings - default. Audio mixer - channel unmuted.
Idea: Broadcast of vide of the main speaker (NDI Source 1), and the second speaker is making the off-screen translation. Only the main speaker with video, the second speaker uses only audio, if any other person on the skype call - without video and muted audio - this is how I bring audio from all who are on the skype call (NDI Source 2)
During streaming, I have to switch between quests, so 3rd and 4th guest is dialing and I have to set up a scene for him/her, the more attendees I have the more the issue appears. I limit now to as smaller as I can number of simulations skype guests on the call, haveing next speaker to dial 1 minute before his/her session, but during set up time I face the issue: when I go to skype to check if a person is here or to dial in, crackles start. I go back to OBS - it's gone (even having 4-5 guests on Skype call, 1-2 of them with video). Also when I use OBS with studio mode - to set up next Speaker, also crackles growing, when I stop Studio - decreasing.
I have checked the forum, googled a lot - can't find anything.
Possible reason - weak PC (I jumped into streaming due to quarantine, not many options, unfortunately)
I use Core i5-4310U, 8GB RAM, SSD, 64bit Win 10 Pro, OBS Studio 64 Bit 24.0.3. Base/Canvas resolution 1280x720, 30FPS, Encoder QuickSync H.264, 3000kbp, Connection via Ethernet, internet speed (www.speedtest.net) is 75Mb download, 12Mb upload.
Maybe it's weak hardware, but all the time CPU usage is less than 50%. I also grab Mevo camera as RTMP app http://gopro2obs.com/, adding local USB audio interface (mixing console) and even stream full HD on the same PC - no issues. Issues only appearing with Skype.
I tried all tricks for setting up Windows (e.g. gaming mode), uninstall all apps what I don't need, disable any sync (e.g. OneDrive) before streaming. It also played with many settings of OBS, also trying NDI lowest bandwidth. Nothing really helps.
What is your view?
Is the upgrade the only solution?
Can I do something with e.g. process prioritization - to give more system resources to Skype and/or OBS?
