I'm new to OBS, and I let the setup wizard dictate the program's settings (when I installed it). I have an audio source and a video source set-up, but when I hit record, the program tells me I'm missing something.

So here's my log file:

As a separate question, if "Desktop Audio" is recording my audio, does it record the sound as it's relayed to the speakers? Or does that audio source consist of the microphone recording the speaker audio? (If it's the latter, I'd like to avoid that.)

Thanks in advance. In response to any answers, I'd just like the easiest method of achieving my goal of recording vids.

Use Quicksync (QSV) as encoder, or if not preset use x264. Your GPU doesn't support nvenc as encoder, thus the error.

And yes, if "Desktop Audio" is recording your audio, it is recording what you hear from the speakers. If you want to record a microphone as well, you have to select the corresponding device at Settings->Audio->Mic/auxiliary Audio Device. Usually, "Default" is the entry here, and usually due to this the microphone is picked up automatically. To verify what audio sources go into which audio track in your video, right-click any audio meter in the mixer session and select "Advanced Audio properties". Here, you are presented with a matrix where you can assign which source go into which track. Multiple sources can go into one track. To mix all your sources into track 1, simply check every checkbox for track 1.
