Severe instability in latest OBS release causing complete system freeze

Hello,

I would like to report a very serious issue I’ve been experiencing with the latest version of OBS Studio.

While streaming, the longer the session goes on, the more unstable the system becomes until it eventually reaches a complete and irreversible freeze. Once this happens, even the most basic actions (such as simply moving the mouse cursor) become impossible, as if the CPU were being constantly flooded with new threads and overwhelmed.

Unfortunately, the only way out of this situation has been to perform a manual reboot of the system, as it never recovers on its own. This has happened to me multiple times now, and it makes streaming essentially unusable.

Adding to the problem, the log files for the affected sessions are not being saved by OBS, so I cannot provide any relevant logs for debugging. Additionally, during the freeze I am unable to access Task Manager or gather any performance data, which makes troubleshooting even harder.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with the latest version? And is there any known workaround or fix currently being developed? Do you guys even test your own software before releasing it to the public?

Thanks in advance for any help or clarification.

I haven't experienced an issue as bad as yours but I did have it crash a game when I launched OBS after I had started the game. Turning off the replay buffer caused the game to seem like it was crashing but it recovered.
The other issue is that I cannot close OBS. I have to go into the task manager and force it closed causing it to want to start in safe mode the next time.

This is with yesterday's update.

This is an indication of a severe general issue with your computer. No app is able to prevent the user from starting task manager on a healthy system. I recommend you open Windows event viewer and check for errors in the Windows system log. From your description, it may be possible your hard disk/ssd became faulty and there are bad sectors Windows isn't able to read from or write to. These kind of errors became rare with the switch to ssd, but are not entirely gone.
