Hello !

I'm considering buying a Decklink Quad 2, boxing it to use on an Imac 2017 Radeon Pro 4Go via thunderbolt 3 (my girlfriend would laugh hearing this sentence !).

I'm wondering (i've no clue) how OBS handle the streams from SDI inputs (i would do 1080p50 max, and don't bother much about quality, as soon as the image is steady). For now i just used RTSP streams, but i guess the processing is totaly different ?

Does it require lots of CPU ?
How big is the latency ?
Does RTSP and SDI streams cohabit nicely, beside the difference of latency ?
Any solutions for recording each SDI input separately, like running some BM soft along OBS at the same time ?

As we say in french, like a bottle in the sea ...

We have a new Mac mini (TB3) with 2x quad deck links in a Sonos external PCIe enclosure, with 1080p@60, @50, @30 and @25...

It works well.

I've also done this with a 2012 iMac and a 2013 MacBook (TB2) , so I would surmise that processing power requirements are minimal.
We record-mostly, so latency isn't an issue for us
We use NDI and SDI, not RTSP, so no comment :-)

It would be nice to have a OBS feature to record scenes independently, but I'm not aware of such... The standard seems to be SDI-connected flash drive recorders on camera...

Thanks for that report !

I finally forgot the idea to use RTSP streams, i'll adapt all my sources on NDI, going to an ATEM switcher for the live editing, and onto a Decklink 8K Pro to get the master (and three auxs to record three direct sources, with BM Media Express i suppose ?) and set OBS for broadcasting only.
Good to know that recording doesn't require such ressources, i can imagine running many softs on the same computer.

OBS feels well for what he does now, but i could just wish it expands to many more functions, like recording sources ...
