Hello! I need to stream on notebook + Windows8.1 with Canon 6D DSLR camera with Rode mic attached.
There are many tips on the network to use a HDMI-USB decoder to stream with OBS and DSLR camera.
However I did not understand do I really need decoder if the notebook has HDMI port (my has mini-HDMI)?
Can OBS work directly with an HDMI interface to stream from DSLR camera and will Canon6D transmit audio through HDMI interface ?

You need a capture card. If your laptop has an HDMI port, most likely it is for connecting an external monitor... it is OUT only.
Some laptops *do* have an HDMI IN port, but it is NOT a capture device; they just allow an external device (like a game console) to use their display like a monitor. The incoming signal is NOT processed by or available to the laptop at all.

You'll need something like an Elgato Camlink to use your camera as a face-cam. Also, before you buy a Camlink, plug your camera into a TV to check if it has "clean" HDMI output. Many cameras will output over HDMI with the full UI indicators. Canon cameras especially do this, with no way to turn the UI off and only have the picture. Plugging it into a TV will let you check and see what it's putting out over HDMI. Also, make sure your notebook has an available USB 3.0 port; it will be required to have the Camlink work smoothly.
