First. A little bit about my setup.
Gaming PC
1080p 60Hz monitor
Nvidia 1070
who care about the rest?
Streaming PC
USB Razer Ripsaw capture device
For about a year now, I've quite happily been streaming using video capture on the OBS streaming PC but due to a recent hardware purchase things will need to change.
I got myself a new monitor for gaming which runs nativity at 1440p 144hz G-Sync. I understand that the capture card will not be able to capture this resolution so, I done some fiddling and managed to get it working using the Nvidia DSR settings. It looked like everything was working until entering a game. I didn't have the option to jump the resolution higher than 1080p on some games.
It worked flawlessly in Team Fortress 2 and They are billions, I was able to play at 1440p but some games such as PubG didn't have the option to run higher than 1080p.
I looked at some guides online and finally got it working by using OBS on both the gaming and streaming PC. Basically OBS would project full screen game capture to the capture card (Monitor) then the streaming PC would capture this.
Question:
Will there be any quality reduction streaming this way apposed to doing it the old way?
Does anyone have any recommendations to get things running the way it used to?
Could, I just run the new monitor at 1080p 144Hz or is this also going to cause issues?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
