Question / Help Setting up Crashes OBS

Everytime I go to set up a new Profile or scene, once I get to adding the Video Capture device OBS crashes. After a few restarts of my PC I can usually get it to get into properties and find the Capture Card and then it works fine, however it's quiet annoying as it requires between 2-12 restarts for this to work. Any help would be appreciated.

With my work around (bunch of restarts and pray) I got my stream to work for the day, just now my viewers said they couldnt hear any audio. I clicked on properties in OBS and it crashed again. Currently I don't even get the box where the video should be, opening the original software that comes with the Elgato (capture card) I can see the card itself outputing to the computer, OBS just isn't a fan.

I don't see your Elgato listed in the Log anywhere. Have you installed the drivers for it?

Elgato Game Capture HD & HD60 Drivers: http://thc.elgato.com/download_egc2_220.php

That's what I see at first glance. If it crashes because of the video capture device then it could be a few things. It could need an updated driver, it could be Windows 10 and how it cooperates with your capture card's driver and you'll have to wait for a driver update OR you would need to simply unplug and plug in your Elgato and see if that fixes the problem. It fixed my Avermedia U3 before. o7

I do have Drivers installed and updated, according to their website they have windows 10 Functionality. Unplugging and replugging don't work. Half the time I try to set it up I go Add > Video Capture > Name Device and it crashes after I click OK while trying to open the properties window. The x64 version just closes itself and the x86 version gives me a "Whoops. OBS has crashed." error window.

Could you post the text of the crash log itself? I see the OBS logs but not the actual crash data text.

Use pastebin. As for your John Koba - your crash is fixed in the next patch 0.12.0, it's due to having the blackmagic software installed when there's no blackmagic device on the system. Until the patch is released, either uninstall the blackmagic software if you're not using it, or connect some blackmagic device, then it'll stop happening.

Awesome Jim. Thanks for the fix. Now when I open OBS it says MSVCR120.dll is missing. When I press OK it closes the error and loads the 32-bit fine but I figure'd you'd like to know.
