Selecting area to record

I have just downloaded OBS Project and excited to get going. I thought it would be a straightforward selection of screen area to record, but so far have been unable to find how to do it from the screen rather than within the project window... Anyone help? Thank you

You can crop the window source itself by holding down option key then drag the handle on one of the conners.
