Select mpg files will not preview, gives logfile error MP: failed to seek: operation not permitted

I'm having trouble with OBS Studio and MPG files as media sources. Specifically, some MPG files work just fine but others do not even though they:
  • all have the same codecs: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv) and A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52)
  • all were recorded by the same camera around the same time
  • all play just fine in both VLC Media Player and the Windows Movies & TV app
The problematic files do not preview and cannot be recorded in OBS. The only thing I notice in the log file (attached) is the following error message that appears whenever I choose a scene that contains a problematic file:
MP: failed to seek: operation not permitted

Has anybody seen this before? Please can you help?

I'm using OBS Studio v26.1.1 on a new, higher-end laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2) with Windows 10 Pro x64 (2004). Setting OBS to use one graphics adapter or the other in Windows Settings (as instructed here) does not seem to make any difference.
