Struggling to figure out what's going on here.
I built a dedicated streaming PC with the following specs:
Ryzen 5 2600
8GB DDR4-2400
240GB SSD
El Gato HD 60 Pro
NVIDIA Geforce 210
The main problem is that when the stream is being previewed, overall CPU usage is around 10% and OBS shows 60FPS, however, as soon as the stream starts, the FPS counter struggles/drops to 40-50FPS. CPU usage is only between 30-35%. This happens on almost every setting. 1080p60/30, 720p60 - all of these resolutions veryfast still struggle to maintain 60FPS.
I am wondering if the GPU is affecting the x264 encoding, but it just seems very strange.
I have no problems with any hardware, etc.
I've tried settings all over the place and am a pretty experienced OBS user.
I am downscaling using the video tab and using the bicubic sampling.
For the CPU usage to only be 35% and to not be able to hold 60FPS on the OBS counter seems very, very odd.
I believe I have to go all the way down to 720p60 and ultrafast to keep it stable.
Intuitively, it seems that should be able to do 1080p60 at fast/faster, 900p60 at medium and 720p60 at medium/slower with no issue as a dedicated encoding PC.
Thoughts?
