rtsp stream not showing in OBS. Neither Media Source, nor VLC Source.

I have a TP-Link Tapo C200 IP Camera and I want to see the stream inside OBS along with some other Video Capture and Audio Capture sources.

The VLC player sees and shows the stream.

When I try to open the rtsp stream in OBS via Media Source or VLC Video Source (all unchecked), it won't show the stream. Neither in Preview, nor when I am streaming. After adding the stream it adds an empty black box to my screen. No failure message.

Here is the log-file https://obsproject.com/logs/lNiqhOmAENvm-_Rs

I tried this on my streaming machine and my working notebook (the log-file is from my notebook). Neither shows the RTSP.

Been doing trial and error and searching forums for hours and I don't find the problem.

Maybe you have an idea? Thank You in advance.

Danke ;-)
Yes, I did all of that...

This is my stream URL: rtsp://username:password@192.168.1.12:554/stream1 (I changed my login credentials ;-))
It works fine with VLC as a Network Stream. I a can see the feed in VLC, but it doesn't show up in OBS...

We are encountering the same issue. We have an IP camera and can view the video via VLC Player; however, we only get a blank screen when the same RTSP URL is inserted into OBS Studio using the VLC Video Source. Using VLC Video Source would be an excellent option if we could get it to work. Any suggestions?

Eventually the stream showed up after a couple of reboots (for other reasons, I didn't change anything in OBS). But the feed keeps freezing. I ended up giving up on it and just using cameras with a USB connection to the machine with OBS.

Please share, if you made it work. I would still like to use the rtsp stream of the Tapo C200, since it has a really nice wide angle view.

I had the same problem.
Install ispy. copy the rtsp address from ispy and paste it into the media source player.
with ispy you can also control the camera at the same time.
let me know, if this solves your issue. thanx.
viel glück!

I MIGHT have a solution. I had been working for a while trying to get this to work using a username:password on the URL. I removed the password and tried again and this time Windows popped up a Firewall access request, which never happened before. Then my camera came up. I then reset the password and modified the URL to include the password and it just worked!
