Bug Report RTMP Reconnect audio issues

I'm having an issue with obs 20.1.3 (and prior). Where when an RTMP media source loses it's connection -and- reconnects video is displayed but does not play audio. (Audio works before it drops, but does not work when the device reconnects). This is easily reproduced. Deleting and re-adding the source does fix the issue. However, that's easier said than done from remote locations. Happy to answer any questions related to the problem.

Try installing a matching bitness of VLC to the bitness of OBS you're using and then using the VLC source instead of media source for those RTMP feeds.

I'd prefer to stay native inside of OBS as that becomes infinitely more difficult to manage off site. Resizing VLC and making that work when I'm not near the OBS computer would be an absolute nightmare. It's a good bandaid, but I'm hoping to see the feature fixed instead.

I'm not saying to window capture VLC with obs. I'm saying to use the VLC Source. It's a different process.

I'm intrigued, but even with VLC installed I do not see a VLC source as an option. Does OBS have a way to natively play what VLC is seeing?

is caused by not:

Try installing a matching bitness of VLC to the bitness of OBS you're using

Once you install a matching bitness of VLC and restart obs, a VLC source option will come up when you try to add a source. Use that INSTEAD of media source for your RTMP inputs.

I'll look into it, Any chance on helping with the actual bug instead of bandaids?

I face exactly the same problem in latest OBS (22.0.2) on Linux (ubuntu) with multiple RTMP sources. Opening the source properties window and pressing OK usually resolves the issue but this is annoying. Since I have multiple RTMP sources, the VLC input "trick" is not applicable. Should I report the bug in the Linux side as well?
