RTMP injest autoswitch

Hi,

I am looking to automatically switch from an incoming RTMP feed to a hold slide when the stream is inactive or drops out.
I have tried running the automatic scene switcher tool using a vlc window with the same stream playing back, but this didn't work.

I guess there are many ways to approach this problem.
The first one that comes to my mind is watching the network usage on the machine with a obs (python) script and then using that to detect the dropout and using the obs scripting api to switch scenes.
