I just purchased a Roxio Game Capture HD Pro. When it came in I did the following:
- Installed the Roxio software.
- Installed the Roxio 2.1 update.
- Connected it to my laptop (Windows 10 1607) via USB.
- Connected another laptop to the Roxio via HDMI.
- Launched Roxio software and clicked Capture.
- Confirmed that I could see the laptop.
- Downloaded and installed latest version of OBS Studio (17.0.2).
- Launched OBS, added Video Capture Card and selected the Roxio.
- I could see the connected laptop in my OBS stream preview.
I thought all was well so I took it home to do some testing with consoles. Unfortunately I could never get the video to display within OBS again. At one point I did get it to display a portion of my Xbox One dashboard, but that small portion is also what was passing through to my TV.
I tried to simplify matters by reproducing my initial test--with a laptop plugged into the Roxio and no passthrough HDMI output. I still got nothing.
I tried uninstalling the software (both the Roxio software as well as OBS) with no change.
I also just tried it on a Windows 7 workstation but the problem persists. I have noted the following is happening, though:
- The Roxio device has a light indicating whether or not the signal it's processing is HDMI or YPbPr.
- If I have the Roxio connected to the workstation and passing through its HDMI signal to another monitor, I can see things on the monitor just fine. I can also see things in the Roxio software just fine.
- If however I add the Roxio device into OBS as a Video Capture Card, the Roxio switches to say it's in YPbPr mode, and the passthrough signal to the monitor goes away. If at this point I launch the Roxio software and hit Capture, it just hangs trying to get the HDMI signal (likely because the Roxio is no longer processing from the HDMI input).
- If I launch the Roxio software prior to launching OBS (which I understand is recommended) the switch to YPbPr does not happen, though I still get nothing from the Roxio in OBS.
There is no active antivirus running on either my Windows 10 laptop or the Windows 7 test workstation I'm currently using.
