Question / Help Routing capture card audio to both OBS input AND headphones

Hi All,

I have the Magewell-XI100DUSB-HDMI Capture card which is working great, but I am having trouble getting the audio to both be recordable input by OBS and also output back to my headphones. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

For reference I have tried using iShowU, which helps with various other aspects (like sending my computer desktop audio when playing an emulator to both OBS via Desktop audio and my headphones), but does not work with a non-desktop audio (like the capture card).

I've been reading that https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/ might be the tool I need.

Any input on the above would be super appreciated.

I use loopback for this and it works.

In a pinch, you can use LineIn to accomplish something similar.

LoopBack would render iShowU redundant.

Thanks Narcogen; this pretty much confirms what I thought. If I'm fine with the LoopBack purchase cost would you say that's the better way to go? Or would getting LineIn be equal. Basically I'm after overall ease of use. Thanks,

LineIn is free, so I'd give it a try first. I used it for quite awhile. LoopBack's price is steep but it does do a bunch of things LineIn cannot-- for instance, a new capture device I've got has its stereo channels reversed, and LoopBack gave me an easy way to reverse them.

Yes, it has been for me. Sometimes when using LineIn (sometimes multiple instances of it) and BlackMagic devices, I would experience some audio lag or noise.

Never with LoopBack.
