Please anyone that can help. Well suited surface book 3. Pretty much all the bells and whistles. Should of gone 13.5 instead of the 15 but whatever. Spent hours and hours trying to get a Elgato working. Finally broke down called tech support where he made me do all the things try’s adjustments that I had done and even made me send him a windows log. Fine and dandy but I got like dial up speeds barely and intermittent net sometimes. I am way up northern ontario. I call it buck**** nowhere near impossible to source stuff. Please feel sorry for mr - kidding. I sent back the elgato to seller. Today I get in the august vb300. I had already removed Elgato but I wanted to preload the obs cuz of crazy download times. Done. I’m happy so far. I plug in the vvB300 and Shazam ! I got a video playing. No sound but a video. I think well I can figger this out. Tried EVERYTHING but nothing that worked. I added stuff I guessed I had to have. I had lines moving on mikes. I just could not hear a sound. I even uninstalled software and installed again. I’m reasonably smart - kinda - I even set up a working network for about 12 employees but finally payed bout 1000 bucks a month support. It got beyond me. I’m frustrated because I was determined I could get it done. Spent a good 7 hours on it. I’m thinking it’s something obvious. I will check in the AM to see if anybody takes the challenge. In advance much appreciated. I assume there’s no phone support. Goodnight.

By default audio monitoring is turned off in OBS to avoid a feedback.
To turn on audio monitoring click the gear icon in the audio mixer (where the lines are moving) and click advanced audio properties.
Adjust settings under the audio monitoring tab
Monitor off = no audio to computer speakers but allows audio to the stream or recording.
Monitor only mute output = audio output to speakers only.
Monitor and output = audio to speakers and to recording or streaming.

Omg - many thanks I hear now, if I may:
in the Audio mixer screen :

audio input capture - moving line
audio output capture - moving lines
audio output capture 2 - moving lines
desktop audio - moving lines
micaux - moving lines
micaux2 - moving lines
micaux3 - moving lines
micaux4 - moving lines
video capture device - no moving lines

Do I need all these set up. I can turn off micaux 234 and still hear sound. Should I leave them on or off, you have been a great help. I hear now and can continue to try and learn softearee

best regards thanks again - Canada Craig

You probably had them all set at value Default (or the same microphone)? Then you can just leave them Disabled now. OBS Studio provides the possibility to have up to four mics or other inputs, but obviously you don't have to use them all.
