hello friends, I cannot seem to get my rme babyface pro to show up in Obs as desktop audio. Further more I cannot get the loop back function to send audio signal into obs if I add it as an audio input device. Can anyone help?

Have you tried the Aux. audio input? Screen Shot 2017-10-17 at 7.37.00 AM.png

Without helper applications, you can't get ANYTHING to show up as desktop audio devices on mac. This is a limitation imposed by apple.

I don’t think that is the case, with my steinberg ur22mkii it shows up. So it’s not a Mac issue.

Wayne I have tried the aux input and I can add it there, but I get no signal even with loopback engaged in rme totalmix

This isn't about desktop audio, it's about an external audio source, which OBS on MacOS supports fine without the use of SoundFlower or LoopBack or the like.

However, OBS is an app that only understands 2 channel audio.

I'd suggest opening Audio MIDI Setup, making an aggregate device that includes only the channels you want from the Babyface, and then seeing if OBS can see that. LoopBack will also do that, but at a price.

Just chiming in here. The only way I have managed to capture audio from an external source using an RME device in OBS is by switching into 'USB Class Compliant' mode - which has many limitations over the full driver.

However, it IS possible to use these devices on Windows in full driver mode. On windows you are able to select any stereo pair available.

I don't think the aggregate device workaround works - or at least it didn't when I tried a year or so ago.

I can confirm that it is still some issue with Babyface Pro and OBS on MacOS.

Works fine on Windows 10, but I just got a new Macbook Pro with the newest mac os installed and updates installed.
I also tried diferent ways to route and lookback sound to see if it would work. Audio MIDI Setup, and installed Soundsource, Soundflower, JackPilot.. I think I went through all settings that would make sense. My Babyface driver shows up as an device in OBS, and I can comtrol it with TotalMix FX, and all other apps I tried to record with works too. Only OBS does not work.

Quite annoying.. I will see if any of ther older versions of OBS should work but I doubt it.

Cheers,
Frank
