Restarting RTSP when camera comes online

I have a camera inside of a model locomotive
The camera is powered by the track
When the track power is restored, the camera comes back online, but OBS does not restart the video I have to manually open Properties, click OK, and the video feed is renewed

Even though the option is checked to restore the video, it doesn’.

Any suggestions?

I can open up the router to allow you to connect remotely to my camera for troubleshooting using port 554

Let me know

Here is the webpage that I used to control the locomotive, and has the embedded YouTube video in it.

So I would just like the camera to be restored automatically when the power is applied

The common answer to issues like "OBS isn't able to automatically recover camera access after camera outage" is: "make sure your camera works reliable". In your case it seems the camera is inherently unreliable, and it seems this is a situation OBS was not designed for.

Make sure your camera works reliable, you say…. What is reliable? I just finished a stream with 108 hours…

I professionally build and sell these #LocoCabCam cars, complete with battery back up.

My simple test of turning the camera off and back on, reveals the problem.

Like I said earlier, refreshing the properties, clicking OK reconnect the camera every time.

Your comment, the camera seems unreliable, I’m a little offended to that. We are the manufacturer of these high-quality cameras.

Sometimes a user will accidentally turn off the power. Upon restoration of the power source camera does go online to the network, but is not restored to the OBS stream.

OBS depends on a reliable camera feed. An uninterrupted proper data feed. If OBS isn't able to receive a proper data stream from your camera for whatever reason, the feed becomes unreliable, and OBS isn't designed to handle that well. This isn't about the quality of the camera. If the camera or some intermediate component loses power and the data feed is interrupted because of this, OBS has issues, so you need to ensure the feed isn't interrupted.

So what is the propose of having an option to reconntect?

For example, if i physically remove the power to my camera, and reinstate the power, why does it reconnect? OBS doesn’t event try.

The plugin 'Automatic Scene Switcher' might do the trick. It can detect motion. If it doesn't see that enough pixels have changed in a scene then you can trigger a scene disable/enable to restart the stream. Motion Detection
This may or may not work for you - especially if the camera in question is stationary and has no change in scenery for a time, but it's something to try.
