Question / Help Resource waste and lag even when not streaming

OBS uses up to 5% of CPU when it's simply open and not streaming, and it causes some noticeable lag in just about every app and overall system as well; streaming or recording with it is not necessary, it lags the system when it's simply open and sitting idle, even with preview disabled.
Attached are my settings, maybe there is something in there that can solve this?

OSX 10.13.5

I might try reinstalling. The perceivable lag is a worry. 4% CPU load is not really much of a concern. That might be caused by downscaling your Retina display to 720p anyway. You may want to consider setting your base canvas resolution to something lower-- the lag is probably being caused by overloading your GPU.

Your streaming bitrate is also EXTREMELY low. Have you tried streaming or recording yet? Do you have a log to post?
