[RESOLVED] Failed to initialize video (on what was a previously working setup) in Windows 10

Hi there,

I'm having an issue with OBS; previously OBS worked fine and I don't recall any dramatic changes I've made to my system (besides the obligatory Windows 10 updates). When I start OBS, I get a pop-up

"Failed to initialize video. Your GPU may not be supported, or your graphics driver may need to be updated."
  • OBS 21.1.0 (64bit, windows)
  • GeForce 940MX
  • Graphics drivers updated as of a few minutes ago (to try to fix the error)
  • Windows 10 (x64) Pro build 19042.746
Log file attached - anything else I should share?

I've reset the profiles under AppData\Roaming\obs-studio\basic by renaming the folder, and it still throws this error.

I have resolved this issue:

  1. I initially updated GeForce drivers - didn't resolve
  2. I downloaded a more recent version of OBS Studio (26.x)
    1. Upon installing it, a warning popped up:
2021-01-31 22_40_01-Wish That You Were Here (From “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children...png
    2. I disabled MS Teams
    3. Completed the install
  3. OBS works now
  4. I cannot be sure if it's MS Teams or the newer version that resolved it, but there you have it.
PS - ignore the screenshot filename, Greenshot seemed to snap up my YouTube Music page's name :-)
