Question / Help Rescale Output / Output (Scaled) Resolution - Difference?

Hi,

i was wondering, what is the difference between "Rescale Output" in the "Output"-Tab and "Output (Scaled) Resolution" in the "Video"-Tab. I've tried a lot of variations* and the result was the same, the output video was 1280x720.

Is it enough to set only one option or do i have to set both?
How does it affect the CPU / GPU usage depending which encoder i use?

I hope this isn't a common question.

*Variations:
1. Rescale Output: 1280x720 + Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1280x720 = Result: 1280x720
2. Rescale Output: 1280x720 + Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1920x1080 = Result: 1280x720
3. Rescale Output: OFF + Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1280x720 = Result: 1280x720

No difference unless downscale is bicubic/Lanczos. These filters use GPU but performance impact is negligible.

If you rescale in Video settings, leave rescale unchecked in Output. You would rescale twite (not needed)
