Sometimes OBS will crash while I'm recording full screen. Unfortunately this is not always immediately known because the crash dialog often doesn't take priority on the screen (foreground). Recently I missed a 45 minute recording session because of this.
I used to use Fraps but have moved to OBS due to the ability to use GPU encoding and the fact it isn't limited to AVI format. One thing I did like about Fraps is the ability to show a FPS counter that would turn red when recording. This counter could also be excluded from the output file based on the config.
I would like to see the ability for OBS to display a small clock overlay just to let the user know it's still recording and hasn't crashed. This overlay ideally would have the following options:
1. Can be positioned anywhere on the screen or at least any corner
2. Can be excluded from capture
3. Can be set how often it updates (seconds / minutes)
4. Visibility can be toggled with a hotkey
5. Can be disabled completely for those who don't want it
This way if the clock is, for example, set to update every 30 seconds and a minute goes by without an update the user would know OBS has crashed. The toggle would also allow you to hide the clock but temporarily bring it back to check the OBS status.
