Question / Help Replay buffer no longer works with HEVC?

As per the title I was using HEVC H.265 for recording/streaming/replay buffer with an rx580. Now with a GTX 1070 already being forced to use custom ffmpeg to enable H.265 I am unable to use it with replay buffer. Is there a fix for this/ a reason this is impossible/ a workaround?

Still no answer to this topic? I bought a laptop recently with a GTX 1070, supports HEVC and all but the fact that I can't use replay buffer with H265 but my Vega 64 and RX 580 does it, it's quite underwhelming. Is it on Nvidia's behalf or did the devs of OBS disabled the feature due to some incompatibilities?

I'm interested in this as well. I just wanted to use the replay buffer and encode the replays with HEVC (NVENC) since my video editor supports HEVC (+ my GTX 1060 can seemingly handle encoding it + the better quality/size ratio etc.). I saw this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/ffmpeg-disables-my-replay-buffer.93638/ but there was only a "That's by design" answer that doesn't really answer why we can't use the replay buffer with custom ffmpeg encoding. I'm also unsure why there are no H.265 encoding options (at least on capable Nvidia cards) when not using a custom ffmpeg output (where replay buffer is enabled).
