Hello,
I was using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and never had this problem. Then installed new 20.04 LTS and OBS 25.0.8.
I get a lot of lags, ca. 3-9% and the video does not play smoothly. I tried everything described in the net. There is no "overload" as I am just capturing VHS tapes. The CPU is around 10% and the GPU is a Nvidea GTX 1060 with 6 GB. It happens with both, NVENC or X264, but less with X264.
However, it cannot be the hardware, because I then installed OBS 25.0.3 and the lag drops down to 0.3-1.2%. Still sometimes the video is not smoothly, but much rarely than with 25.0.8.
However, I did not have these problems with older version of OBS with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I do not want to go back. There should be a solution with OBS. Maybe where can I get older versions of OBS to try them out?
...it improves while setting the bufferr manually with x264, CBR, buffer: 8000000. But still there is no complete elimination of this and I am around 0.4%
