This setting may exist and I'm just unaware of it, but it started doing this after the last major OBS update. I have trouble searching for it because I'm not sure what this panel is called, so I've included some images.
The preview window in the settings for every source is as absolutely large as possible, even on text and other sources where it doesn't make sense. I can drag the bar to reduce its size, but it doesn't remember the setting. For someone who is always messing around with sources, it actually adds a lot of tedium to work around this.
I've attached an image of what I'm talking about on a text source, where the number "462' is stretched to fit the preview screen as large as possible. My personal preference for all source types would be the complete opposite, in image 2
