Question / Help Red Dead Redemption - OBS black screen.

Hello, sorry my english is very bad.. ^^

English:
Hello, when I record through the "Red Dead Redemption 2 pc" obs game capture, and window capture .. I tried everything the screen is black. I will add that every game normally captured so far, the problem only occurs with Red Dead 2 pc

My Original language Polish:
Witam, kiedy nagrywam poprzez obs "Red Dead Redemption 2 pc" przechwytywanie gry, oraz przechwytywanie okna.. próbowałem wszystkiego ekran jest czarny. Dodam że każdą grę normalnie do tej pory przechwytywało, problem występuje tylko przy Red Dead 2 pc

Pleasy, help me..

Set RDR2 on DX12 than restart the game and you will can capture it with Game Capture. Or, with Vulkan you can capture it with Window Capture (use OBS as ad Administrator anyway).

I forgot all about window capture. Thanks for this.

Well the capture works, but if I activate the window (as I would to play the game) the capture becomes a picture and no video. When I deactivate the window (get the cursor back to the desktop) then it captures fine.

So this doesn't work.

I've tried dx12, it doesn't work. It actually fights with OBS encoding for GPU time and eventually the game crashes.

You need the latest version of OBS, and run it as Administrator. After that, you need to use the game in DX12 if you want to capture it with Game Capture (you need to restart the game after the change from Vulkan to DX12). If you want to use Vulkan (my game crash in DX12 so i use Vulkan) you need to capture the game with Window Capture but the game need to be in Borderless Window in the settings, not in Fullscreen.

Got the same issue as dude above...
Game is captured when am Alt+tab but not when in game (Windowed Borderless)...
Obs running as admin.
Helpusy!

(Using Vulkan)

Yeah i do MSI afterburn how ever today was some windows update and game wont even load world on Vulkan....
Haven't do anything else so it must be that...
So i switch to DX12 and guess what? Stream is flickering.... Am so mad at this point...
But thx for the help will try that as well soon (if i manage to system restore).

Edit: Well i can't roll back coz freaking windows condom (protection) wasn't on.
So no Vulkan for this Boi at this time... Lost 4h trying to make it work on dx12 but nop... Game keeps crashing.
Fixed flickering by turning off nvidia layout (used for fps counter) but its still crashing and performance is so god damn poor its insane!
Played 50% of the game before this with no problem and now this...

Any sort of software with his own overlay can make problem for OBS like nvidia geforce experience, msi, rivatuner, ecc... so better don't use it. :)

the problem is that vulkan + gsync doesn't work with obs when the game window is active, it only works when I alt tab out of the game probably because gsync gets disabled, the same is true for other vulkan games as well

I'm not using software but it's impossible to stream on DX12 for me... HUD still flickers...

Vulkan isnt a thing of AMD... Vulkan is good even with a 2080ti for the GPU Async tec.

I have the same problem and do what I do I find no solution, not even the previous answers do not help me.

The year is 2021. A guy search the internet just to find out his problem persists since 2019.

I tried all of the above. I don't want to capture my screen anymore, this sucks :(

Any of you found a solution to this?

I don't know if this is a solution but this happend after I installed MSI afterburner. If I launch the program (MSI) before streaming the game it works somehow. Maybe this works for someone else hopefully, very annoying.

yes rtss interfere with obs game capture since obs 27.1 since the hooking method was changed in obs, the solution is to edit RivaTuner Statistics Server\Profiles\Global while rtss is closed and change UnconditionalInjectionDelay to something high enough like 10000 so that obs can hook the process before rtss
