recover recording

Over the past few weeks, I've been using OBS Studio increasingly often. However, after a recent session where I recorded for an hour and a half, I encountered an issue. As usual, I clicked "stop recording" at the end, but when I checked the folder for the recorded videos, the file was only 16 minutes long. Could anyone please advise me on how to recover the missing portion of the recording? It is really important to me, and I'm puzzled as to why it wasn't saved properly.

A common case for OBS not being able to stop the recording is severe encoder overload. In case you encounter encoder overload, the encoder subroutine might stall and not continue to encode. The recording part from that point in time onwards is lost.

OBS is telling you if its encoder is overloaded. You see a warning in the OBS GUI, and you see it in the logfile. A few frames lost due to encoder encoder overload only leads to laggy and choppy video, but severe overload might lead to loss of the video.
