Question / Help Recording while streaming - stopped after 23 minutes

Hey guys

Last night I was streaming for 3½ hours and did a local recording at the same time.

The recording lasted 23 minutes and were stopped (not on OBS studio, but there just isn't any more than that)

Can anyone tell me what went wrong? Is it my system that is too bad to handle it? (things were running perfectly though in the first 23 minutes)

Here is the log:

Hi,

taking a look at the log it doesn't show any start or stop for recording? It just looks to list the inital load of the app and scene's. When you say about "not on OBS studio" wasn't the first 23 mins recording via OBS studio?

Cheers

Bob

That is really weird - OBS studio was still displaying 'Stop Recording" during the entire stream.
When I stopped the stream the 'Stopping Recording' stayed there and when I shut down OBS the file was only 23 mins.

Some encoding error maybe?

When you stopped the rec in OBS did it change back to start the button? or did it hang and you had to close it manually say via task manager?

It just hanged there - I hit the close button on OBS after letting it stay open overnight (7 hours) and it told me that it would stop the recording - clicked ok and then ... yeah :)

I've had this problem recording in .mp4, but there the entire recording just got corrupted. Using .mkv I got the 23 minute file :)

explains the log, yes if it happens with MP4 it does corrupt had this before. If you do it for a 1 min video does it do the same and crashes?

Nope - I've recorded 20 min videos (with stream active) just to test it out and that has worked fine :(
Not the worst thing, but I would like to upload 1080p to my YouTube as I have a lot of American viewers that can't watch my stream - the VOD just doesn't look as good...

So is it working now or did it just not crash this time? Yes the VOD's are recorded with your stream settings so they wont be as nice as a local recording unless you are partnered with twitch.
