Question / Help Recording vs Streaming?

In general, which one makes a pc work less harder?
Recording or Streaming?
I've got an almost obsolete setup and I need to budget my cpu and ram usage, I'm scared of BsoDs.

My PC Specs:
Intel i5-3570k Ivy Bridge 3.40ghz (w/ stock heatsink)
Kingston Hyperx Fury 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3
EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti
Asus P8-Z77-V LX Mo'bo
Corsair TX650M PSU
1TB hard drive

Streaming makes the PC work harder than recording.

Recording is able to reduce processor and video card use by increasing bitrate to make up the quality difference.
