Question / Help Recording to two separate video files from two cameras

Hi,

I feel like this is a (relatively) simple thing to do, I have two cameras on my laptop (one builtin and the other a usb webcam. I can get OBS to record both of them great, and put them in the same video, but what I need at the moment is to just have the video recorded (relatively) synchronously, and saved to different files. Can OBS do this?

Not the way you're intending. OBS can only output a single recording of a single composition.

Having a different composition recorded simultaneously would require multiple OBS instances, which is actually possible -- you just need to run one of the instances in what's called portable mode. If you set an identical hotkey to start/stop recording for both instances, then you can get synchronized recording from both.
