Question / Help Recording skips frames when vsync is turned off

Hello,

I'm fairly new to obs and have been using it for recording a couple videos on the game "Paladins".
I'll keep the issue short and concise. I'm basically having trouble recording intense moments in game (like a teamfight).
The situation is as follows:
When the ingame vsync is turned on, the fps is capped at 60, at which point obs is able to record fluidly and smoothly with no issues at all.
However when I turn off vsync, fps jumps to 150, and at this point, obs starts to skip frames whenever something intense happens in the game.

As I am unable to play with vsync on (It makes a huge difference to me as I have a 144hz monitor), I was wondering if there was any way to fix this issue, and record gameplay without stuttering. I am aware it is not possible to record at 144 fps, but even if it only records at 60 fps, can it do that even while I'm playing at 144+ fps?
I have tried setting priority higher but even making it higher than normal drops my ingame fps to below 60-70 so it becomes pretty hard to play.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Attached below are screenshots of my obs settings.
