Question / Help Recording separate VIDEO tracks?

Hi guys,

So I'm planning some... let's say "fairly advanced" stuff here, and I really hope that OBS Studio can do this for me: I know that it can already record separate audio tracks, but can it record separate video tracks?

Aka I'd like the ability to simultaneously broadcast the currently selected scene, but I'd also like to record all the scenes in my profile in the background. This would be super useful for video montage after the stream, or to provide further views later on from different perspective.

Now I understand that what I'm asking for would probably absolutely kill my CPU and Disk I/O usage, especially since I'm thinking about 2 cameras + screen record (with overlays) recording with their audio tracks (and that's just the start tbh) but I'm also crossing my fingers really hard that it's possible... or implementable.

Cheers for the awesome software! I am in love!

That would be a delightful thing, but... certainly no way to do that at the moment that I know of.

Best you could do right now is use separate instances of OBS for the separate things, but then your CPU will cry. Now, if you happen to have a QuickSync-capable CPU and an NVENC-capable GPU, then you could at least drastically cut your CPU load by using QuickSync on one instance and NVENC on another.

But then you're stuck with not having everything in one instance so you can stream it all combined. You could theoretically have one extra instance of OBS and use window capture or something of the like to capture the previews of the other instances of OBS that are doing the individual recording, but by that point everything's an awful mess.

If somebody has a sane way to do it, I'd be interested in myself.
