Question / Help Recording quality issues

Hello there,

I am streaming very smoothly with OBS, however when it comes to recording, I always get files of very bad quality : bad sound quality, background noise, low resolution picture with washed colors...

I have already done a lot of research in the settings and on the web, however I can't find where this problem comes from. The encoder for recording is set to "same as stream". I have tested out setting it differently but it doesn't make any difference.

Please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

Have you tried updating OBS? You're on version 16.6, and version 18 was released yesterday. In case it does manage to make things worse, I would recommend backing up your settings (and %appdata%\obs-studio).

I've just updated OBS. Sadly, it doesn't fix anything regarding my low quality recordings.

I also had this problem, but it turned out it was actually a problem with VLC player (that I used to play the recordings) and not with OBS. If you're using VLC to play your videos and if you have an Nvidia card, that might be your problem as well.
