Question / Help Recording PS4 with OBS

Hi there,

So I'm new to using OBS and I was just wondering something. If I had my PS4 connected to my monitor, via HDMI, would I be able to have OBS capture the PS4 screen or would I need to have a capture card, like Elgato, to be able to do something like that?

Thanks.

Some PCI-E card if you have a desktop and USB3 if you dont.
Depends what kind of functionality you need but Avermedia cards are pretty good.
For USB3-card, probably XCapture-1

actually, I setup my friends to capture ps3 and xbox 360 and Nvidia shield via elgato h60 pro pcie. Works flawless using latest beta driver from elgato. Can't say about the other elgato products though.

Elgato models with instant game view (HD60 pro PCI-E) (HD60-S USB 3.0) should be ok. Most other USB 3.0 and PCI-E may work. PCI-E requires desktop tower, and USB 3.0 requires a compatible USB 3.0 controller ports (check device manager). For many desktop computers, only some are USB 3.0, colored blue.

May need to turn off HDCP in PS4 settings to allow PS4 to be captured.
