Recording meetings in 720p or 1080p on slow laptop

Hi everyone
I am a beginner so this is probably an easy question, but I could not fin a clear answer on this forum. I just want to be sure.
I use OBS to record meetings on a 1920x1080 screen laptop (with an SSD; in case that matters). The processor is an Intel Core m3-6Y30 and the laptop can get quite slow while recording and presenting.
I am wondering what are the best OBS settings to use as less CPU as possible ? Should I record in 1080p or 720p ?
Thanks for your help !

It is not easy question. Recording is resource demanding task.

Next settings produces large files, but sometimes it can do the trick. It is all about your own luck.
The Custom FFmpeg output with the MPEG2 encoder. The later works even for crap PCs (only recording, no streaming): https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/transparent-windows-help.79600/#post-335085
Thanks for your answer. Sorry for the late reply.
In my case, file size does not matter as long as it requires less CPU power. I can convert my file with Handbrake afterwards.
I will try your settings.
Just to be sure : you think it's less demanding to record in 720p than 1080p then ?

Yes. The less area - the less calculations needed to encode the video and less CPU bus bandwidth needed to process each frame. OBS scales the canvas by utilizing GPU blocks (shaders processing). So the impact of the scaling on overall performance - is low. Of course, you better make few recording attempts with different settings, to find out what is better suits for you.
