Question / Help Recording Max Payne 1

I do know that OBS doesn't really like dx8 games but I'm still trying to get OBS to record Max Payne 1 but so far I only get a black screen.
Is there a proper way to feed OBS the video from another program - and if so which one?

I did find a 3 year old post about my current problem but I don't know if that is still the best way to do it now.

Run the game using the -window launch option and use Window Capture
