Recording left eye/right eye video for VR video

I have two identical cameras that I want to use to record video for VR. I know that I'm only going to be able to get 180 degree FOV video, but that's okay.

I can set up the two different sources in OBS just fine, but I think the problem is that after I am able to set up the scene (which I need to determine FOV for each camera, focal depth, etc) and record left eye/right eye video I need to also transform the video into the correct perspective transformation so that it renders correctly in a VR headset.

I'm not sure that applying a simple "fisheye" filter would be sufficient; most of the perspectives I've seen for left eye/right eye in VR have a sort of... odd not-quite-round shape.

Is there a way that this can be done as a filter in OBS, or do I need to try to apply a projection or something like that in another program?
