Question / Help Recording Lags but In-Game Fine

Below I have attached my obs log. My problem is that my recording starts to lag when playing Darksiders 3 during the transformation only, but ingame everything runs smooth. My current obs settings are
Encoder: H.264
Rate Control: CQP
CQP: 20
My PC spec are i7 8700 and gtx 1070, 16gb ram.
I have tried VBR and CBR with many different settings but every time during the transformation the recording starts to lag and gets choppy. Also there is already an ingame fps limit of 60 for Darksiders 3 so thats not the problem. I can post a video of what Im talking about if needed. Any help is much appreciated.

Not familiar with the game, but during the transformation, is that same framerate cap in place? Also, could the transformation be putting an extra strain on your GPU that loads it to >90%?

The logs do confirm that it's rendering lag, so you're right to suspect limiting fps as the first troubleshooting step. I will recommend that you turn Game Mode off though.

I disabled game mode and all of that and it helped out a lot thanks. Are there any other recommendations that would help the rendering lag or is that it?

Game mode is #1
Not watching your own stream or anyone else's, or anything hardware accelerated in a browser is #2 (They can be open on a different tab or minimized and not use GPU, if they are visible they will rock your GPU)
Not running your webcam at 1080p is #3
Barring all that, if needed, reduce your GPU usage in game by lowering settings or capping your FPS.
