I'm trying to record lossless video preserving colors exactly as they are in the source.
Simple output mode with Lossless preset makes colors much darker, saves as .avi, does not use GPU encoder (and even hides encoder selection from recording section).
Advanced output mode with Nvidia NVENC (both h264 and HEVC) with Lossless rate control uses GPU encoder and produces colors which match exactly the source / screenshots (compared by analyzing pixel values of the recorded video frames).
In both modes I use identical Color format (I444), Color space (sRGB), Color range (full).
SDR, no HDR monitor and output.
Source: game capture.
Is this behavior of Lossless preset in Simple mode intentional? It does not seem truly lossless because colors are altered.
