Recording gets audio perfectly but no video

I am trying to record some material to put on a dvd for my grandfather who is in a assisted living facility but there is no internet service, the idea is to be able to bring him shows from sites like Netflix and Broadway Hd. Apparently to protect themselves they have some system of blocking out video so I wondered if there is a work around I am not trying to pirate or sell copies just to provide him new entertainment. Any ideas
I recorded a couple of things and as I said audio was fine just no video. Thanks in advance PS I am new to this so I apologize in advance for my limited skill set

Get him a tablet with cell data capability, that can do HDMI out one way or another and a pay as you go data only plan/card.
Install Netflix, create a profile for him and download the shows via WiFi at your place following these instructions:
If you have an ad-free plan, you can have up to 100 active downloads at a time per device based on the number of devices included in your Netflix plan.
Disable cell data for every thing except Netflix because you still have to sign in to watch the downloads.

It comes free with my cell phone plan so I do get ads but few and very far between, the real culprit is broadway hd and while I am not going to sell or provide any copies to anyone else, I just want to be able to have a copy to take with me when we go into certain space with no internet.
